What is the best method to connect <a href=\"_wp_link_placeholder\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\">ignition cable<\/a> to these items?<\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> Some transformers and electrode adapters\u00a0use a barbed fitting, also called a &#8220;spearlock anchor,&#8221; to achieve connection to the ignition cable. This style of connection was discussed in previous FAQs: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.combustion911.com\/blog\/industrial-burners\/faq-electrode-adapters\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Electrodes for Pilot and Industrial Burners #1<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.combustion911.com\/blog\/industrial-burners\/faq-ignition-electrodes\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Electrodes for Pilot &amp; Industrial Burners #2<\/a>. If you look inside the electrode adapter at this fitting, it resembles a screw.<\/p>\n<p>To help illustrate the best procedure for connecting electrode adapters to ignition cable, we created the following video:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JQCBwP9Ysco?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The key elements of a trouble-free connection are:<\/p>\n<p>1) Use the right ignition cable! <a href=\"http:\/\/combustion911.com\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Combustion 911<\/a> supplies a low-capacitance, 7mm, soft silicone rubber-jacketed ignition cable.<\/p>\n<p>2) Properly trim the wire to allow about 1\/8 inch of the conductor to protrude from the insulation.<\/p>\n<p>3) Fan out the wire (like a flower).<\/p>\n<p>4) Using a punch or awl, create a small depression in the middle of the wire &#8220;flower.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>5) Using a clockwise motion, screw the cable into the transformer or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.combustion911.com\/products\/electrode-adapters\/electrode-adapters.html\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spark plug boot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>6) Test the connection by holding the transformer or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.combustion911.com\/products\/electrode-adapters\/electrode-adapters.html\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spark plug boot<\/a> and tugging (gently!) on the cable.<\/p>\n<p>Following this procedure, you always get a solid electrical and mechanical connection &#8212; and eliminate a common failure point for good burner ignition or flame sensing.<\/p>\n<p>Please don\u2019t hesitate to email questions that arise as a result of, or due to confusion regarding a pending, purchase to <a href=\"mailto:support_ab@combustion911.com\">support_ab@combustion911.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Q: I&#8217;m having trouble getting a good connection on the barbed fittings in my transformers and electrode boots.
